WELCOMING OUR NEW EMPLOYEE
In the position of Assistant Curator - Exhibitions & Programs

MAYA HODGE

Maya Hodge is a proud Lardil/Yangkaal woman raised in Mildura, Victoria. Based on the lands of the Kulin Nation, Maya is an emerging artist, published poet, curator and violinist whose work explores healing through the arts through musical performance, poetry, oil painting and collage. Maya has exhibited and performed in the YIRRAMBOI program, facilitated workshops at Signal and Footscray Community Arts Centre, participated in musical events with the Barpirdhila Foundation and Short Black Opera, and has undertaken the Constant Ecology artist residency with Westspace and KINGS Artist-Run. Prior to her new role, Maya has worked in exhibitions and collections at the Koorie Heritage Trust.

Maya is looking forward to working alongside emerging First Nations creatives and learning from them and the team at Blak Dot Gallery, in assisting to elevate and empower First Peoples voices through community arts.
